Wanderlust & Weekend
When L.A. photography meets premium denim
It's these moments between arrival and departure that define summer. Endless roads, shimmering heat, horizons that are never quite tangible in the distance. For our new men's collection, we've captured these fleeting moments. The result is a limited-edition series of T-shirt – designed by the signature style of Los Angeles photographer Evans Vestal Ward, whose work expresses both movement and stillness alike.
His subjects: landscapes that offer space. A highway bridge stretching across the vast expanse. Accompanied by words that evoke longing – weekend and wanderlust. Read the interview about this special collaboration.
Your subjects convey a sense of vastness – streets, landscapes, light and shadow. What fascinates you about that?
I think it's that feeling of being on the move, without knowing exactly where you'll end up. For me, travel isn't about a destination, it's about a state of being. Especially in L.A., you're constantly in motion, but the real moments happen in between – when the horizon is open and everything seems briefly still. That's the tension I try to capture.
The prints have a serene feel, as if time has stood still, and bear the words ‘Weekend’ and ‘Wanderlust.’ What’s the meaning behind them?
The words are like little anchors. ‘Weekend’ is about letting go, about slowing down after a long week. ‘Wanderlust’ is more of an inner drive – the need to get out, to think further. I wanted to create images that aren’t loud, but rather have a lasting impact. Motifs that you don’t just see, but feel.
How does it feel for you to see your photography on clothing – especially on Herrlicher’s denim-inspired menswear?
That appealed to me because denim always has something authentic about it. It's robust, durable, and develops character over time – just like good photography. The idea of someone wearing a shirt and integrating my images into their everyday life makes the work more tangible. The artwork becomes part of an attitude and is more than just a picture.
What should men feel when they wear one of these shirts?
Not a trend. More like a sense of calm and self-assurance. The shirts aren't designed to scream for attention. They work when you know who you are – or at least have some idea of it. It's about quality and a certain feeling – that quiet urge to just set off.
