Herrlicher Material Guide

Please note: Always follow the care symbols on each individual garment!

Cotton
Cotton is a very durable and washable natural material that is particularly skin-friendly and breathable. Herrlicher jeans and T-shirts/longsleeves for men and women are made from high-quality cotton, making them exceptionally comfortable to wear.

Tip: To make ironing cotton items such as shirts, T-shirts, and jeans easier – or even unnecessary – use a lower spin cycle, shake out your still-damp garments vigorously after washing, and hang them to air dry.

Elastane
Elastane is an extremely stretchable synthetic fiber used to increase elasticity and wearing comfort in garments. Pure elastane can stretch up to 500–700% of its length and then return to its original shape. At Herrlicher, elastane is added in small amounts mainly to jeans and trousers to ensure a perfect fit and comfortable wear. A hallmark of Herrlicher denim is its excellent recovery, meaning no sagging at the knees after wearing or washing. Some women’s T-shirts and longsleeves also contain this stretchy material for a snug, flattering fit.

Tip: For jeans, trousers, or shirts with a higher stretch content, ironing is often unnecessary as they dry relatively wrinkle-free when hung up properly.

Linen
Like cotton, linen is a natural material that is easy to care for and can withstand high washing and ironing temperatures. Linen garments such as women’s blouses or men’s shirts enrich Herrlicher’s spring/summer collections and provide a balanced body climate even in warmer temperatures. Linen must not be tumble-dried and should always be air-dried.

Tip: To reduce the typical wrinkles, iron linen garments while they are still slightly damp or use plenty of steam when ironing dry.

Lyocell
Lyocell (also known as Tencel) belongs to the family of natural cellulose fibers and is made from eucalyptus wood pulp. This relatively new material is strong both when wet and dry, soft to the touch, and highly absorbent. Lyocell cools in warm weather and keeps you warm in the cold. Thanks to these positive properties, it has found its place in our Herrlicher collections – for example, in the Kiera bomber jacket and various Herrlicher jeans models such as the Pitch Slim.

Tip: Garments made of Lyocell are usually easy to care for and, when hung up properly, dry almost wrinkle-free.

Polyamide
Polyamide is a synthetic material with high elasticity and shape retention. As it dries very quickly, it is often used in sportswear. At Herrlicher, this stretchy material complements the fabric composition of selected women’s trousers and sweaters, ensuring durability and comfort.

Tip: Always iron polyamide garments on the lowest heat setting, as the material is very sensitive to heat.

Polyester
Polyester is the most commonly used synthetic fiber in the textile industry and is applied in many areas. It is easy to care for and long-lasting. For this reason, polyester is a popular component in many Herrlicher garments, such as women’s trousers and jackets, ensuring long-lasting enjoyment of your favorite Herrlicher piece.

Tip: Polyester is slightly more heat-resistant than polyamide but should still only be ironed at the lowest temperature setting.

Silk
Silk is an animal-based natural fiber obtained from the cocoons of the mulberry silkworm. Due to its delicate sheen, silk is often used for eveningwear and lingerie. Because of its high protein content, silk is sensitive to UV light, sweat, and heat, and should therefore be treated with care.

Tip: Garments made of pure silk can be gently hand-washed using silk detergent. Do not wring out the fabric; instead, carefully press it dry between soft towels.

Viscose
Viscose is a semi-synthetic fiber made from the natural material cellulose. Thanks to its environmentally friendly production, viscose has become increasingly popular for a wide range of garments. Like cotton, it is breathable, but more absorbent and well-suited for allergy sufferers. Due to these positive properties, viscose is a favorite material for Herrlicher fabrics. Sweaters, sweatshirts, and women’s trousers made from viscose are comfortable and perfect for everyday wear.

Tip: Use liquid detergent instead of powder, as powder residues can remain in the fibers and cause a dull appearance.

Wool
When we talk about wool, we generally refer to virgin wool from sheep. However, fibers from animals such as alpacas or goats can also be used. This natural material wicks moisture away from the body and helps regulate temperature, keeping you comfortably warm in winter. Herrlicher uses high-quality wool to enhance women’s winter coats and knitwear.

Tip: Wool garments marked accordingly can be washed by hand or in the machine’s wool cycle. It’s best to place them in a laundry bag. Always dry wool items flat in the air – do not hang them or tumble dry.
